“The human body is hardwired to protect itself, and that is what stress responses are intended to do. However, it is important to know how to respond to elevated stress and how to combat the stress response," said Melinda Dalacas, manager of Southwest Spas and Pools.
Here are three ways to beat stress and have fun.
Calm the nerves in a soothing spa. – Adding a portable spa to the yard or deck offers instant relief for any time of day. A hot tub has all of the elements to reduce the three areas of stress: emotional, mental and physical. The atmosphere is instantly relaxing, removing emotional and mental strain. Of course, for physical stress, a hot tub can’t be beat as warm, comforting water is rejuvenating on the skin.
Develop stress reducing relationships. – Having close, loving relationships is the key to low stress. However, as much as close relationships can help reduce stress, it is important to know when to say “no” when asked for a favor that will increase unhealthy stress.
Find healthy ways to beat stress. – While it may sound like a good idea at the time, using alcohol, cigarettes or junk food to reduce stress is never a smart idea. In the end, unhealthy choices cause more harm than good, with relief only temporary. Stress returns with unhealthy habits adding even more to the problems at hand
